Speech Reflection

For my speech I chose to discuss the Julian Center in downtown Indianapolis. The Julian Center is a place for women and children to go if they have been abused or harassed. The center is safe and has cameras surrounding all entrances and exits. The woman feel safe in the Julian center and it was set up so that abused women and children could begin a new life.
I chose to make my speech about the Julian Center because i did a seminar there my freshmen year. When I went we heard stories from some of the women who were in the center and hearing their stories impacted my life greatly. I also had the opportunity to sit down with some of the children in the shelter and I was able to connect with them and hear how they survived.
I learned from this that the Julian Center is a place of rebirth for the people who are in desperate need of a safe house which will allow them to start over. It is necessary for many to donate money to the Julian Center because it goes straight to the advancement of those truly in need.
